Three plotting robots take a guest’s photograph and draw it — physically, with a pen, line by line, on paper, in front of them. It takes a couple of minutes, and almost nobody walks away during it. That is the actual product: not the sketch, but the small crowd that forms around a machine making something by hand.
It occupies a completely different register to a print booth. A booth is loud and fast and social; this is slow and quiet and oddly hypnotic, which makes it a good answer for the part of an evening where a booth would feel like too much — drinks receptions, gallery openings, dinners where the room is seated and talking.
Guests leave with a 4x6 sketch and the digital copy, and everything from the night lands in an online gallery. Three robots run in parallel, which is what keeps it moving; one would be charming and hopeless.
What we need from the venue
- Space: around 8ft by 8ft with a stable surface for the robots. They are drawing to fine tolerances, so a wobbly trestle is a genuine problem rather than a cosmetic one.
- Power: one standard outlet within about 25ft.
- Somewhere people can stand and watch, because they will. Put it where a small crowd is welcome, not in a corridor.
- Time per guest: two to three minutes per sketch across three machines, so roughly 60–70 an hour.
- Additional hours are $350 each.

Drinks and canapés, where a booth with props would break the mood but a room full of people with nothing to look at is its own problem.
